Indian Railway has said on Monday that more than 71 percent of the candidates taking part in recruitment exam for the post of assistant loco pilots and technicians to be held on August 9 Examination centers have been allocated within 200 km radius of their cities. Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan raised the issue of candidates’ examination center away from his house in Parliament, after which this explanation of the railway has come.
Indian Railways said in a statement that 34 lakh candidates (71 percent) seats have been allocated in their own city or nearby cities located within 200 km radius. It said, “99% of physically challenged candidates and female candidates have been allocated within 200 km radius.
More than 47 lakh candidates will be in the examination for recruitment to these posts in the Railways.
Railways said that a large number of forms have been filled in for recruitment of ALP and technician posts. About 9 lakh forms have come from Bihar, 9.5 lakh from Uttar Pradesh and 4.5 lakh from Rajasthan. It was not possible that all the candidates should be given the examination center in their respective states.
Railways said that there should be 26,502 posts of Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician. Of these 2,292 vacancies are for railway units in Bihar and the remaining 24,210 vacancies are for other areas.
